Great to meet you!

Hello, it is great to meet you! My name is Margaret, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I began my career as a high school social worker before receiving my Master's in Social Work from the University of Chicago, School of Social Service Administration. In addition to private practice work, I have spent many years working with schools and supporting adolescents, parents, and educators. More recently, I have done additional training to support those dealing with fertility issues and those needing parinatal/postpartum support.

I feel passionate about helping others through difficult transition periods in their lives with grounding, understanding, and tools to deal with challenges in a healthy and meaningful way.

I like to collaborate with clients to develop tools to manage stress or difficult life transitions, alleviate symptoms of anxiety and depression, or prioritize self-care. I work hard to partner with clients to develop the support they need to feel more empowered and joyful and have a deeper connection to themselves and those they care about.

My approach to therapy

Beginning therapy can sometimes be an overwhelming and vulnerable experience for clients. My approach is always to be client centered and honor their own reasons for starting this work and be mindful of what they would like to take away from it. It is important to me that clients feel as if they are respected partners in the work that we do together. I am always mindful of the best evidence informed practices while balancing that with the approach needed by each individual client. Clients can expect to have a respected partner in this work that will listen, direct them, and work with them to develop a broader toolkit of ways to deal with life stressors.

What you can expect from me

I always like to begin the therapeutic relationship with a brief (15 min) screening call to understand clients needs and mutually decide if this would be a good fit. From there, we will begin with an introductory session where we will work together to craft what our time together can look like in a way that honors your needs, goals, and preferences. My hope is that clients come away from sessions with a renewed sense of empowerment and calm.
