Great to meet you!

Hello. I am a Licensed Mental Health counselor from Purdue University with 15 years of experience working with children, teenagers and adults. Spanish is my native language and I provide therapy sessions in English and Spanish. I help children with socio-emotional and behavioral difficulties related to ADHD, school related difficulties and adjustment challenges related to life circumstances such as family problems, divorce of parents, relocation, death of a family member, and other transitions.

Additionally, I provide parenting consultation to help parents navigate the challenges of raising children, particularly those with behavioral end emotional difficulties.

In my work with adults, I provide treatment in cases of depression, anxiety, trauma, relational difficulties, and adjustment disorders due to a variety of life situations.

My approach to therapy

In my work with adults I facilitate a therapy environment of collaboration, trust, validation and empathy that allows clients to explore and process difficulties and conflicts steaming from past or current life events and life situations. I help clients to identify areas of change and growth and to implement strategies to ease their everyday life challenges.

In my work with children, I implement play therapy techniques to create an enjoyable time with the child, while addressing his/her difficulties. I also strive to establish a collaborative relationship with parents, to hear their comments and concerns and providing feedback and recommendations to implement at home with their child.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect a welcoming, warm, and empathic approach where I actively listen to their life situation and the presenting problems. Throughout a natural conversation, I will gather information about different aspects of their life, their family history and other relevant aspects.

During therapy with children, One of the parents or both, come to the intake session without the child. After that, parents are expected to participate in the first 10 minutes of each session with the child. The remaining time only with the child, is dedicated to play and semistructured activities.
