Great to meet you!

You've been carrying a lot — and you've probably been doing it alone for longer than

you'd like to admit. Maybe it's anxiety that follows you into every room, grief that

never fully lifted, the exhaustion of new motherhood, or trauma that keeps finding its

way back. Whatever brought you here, you don't have to untangle it by yourself.

I'm Rita Sionova, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with 19 years of experience

working with adults, adolescents, and families across New York. I specialize in

trauma and PTSD, anxiety, depression, maternal mental health, and the kind of life

transitions that reshape everything you thought you knew about yourself. My

background spans healthcare, legal, and educational settings — which means I

understand the full weight of the real-world pressures, not just the clinical picture.

I offer therapy in both English and Russian, and I provide culturally responsive

care for clients navigating immigrant experiences, generational patterns, and the

particular challenges that come with living between two worlds. All sessions are via

tele-health, available to clients across New York State.

My approach to therapy

My approach is direct, collaborative, and grounded in what actually works for you —

not a protocol designed for someone else. I draw on Gestalt, Solution-Focused, and

Cognitive Behavioral frameworks, which I adapt based on what you're dealing with

and how you process best.

In practical terms: we'll look at what's happening now, trace it to where it started,

and build something forward. You'll leave sessions with real insight and strategies

you can use — not just relief from talking, but tools that hold up between

appointments. I'm warm and I'm direct. I won't let us drift in circles, and I won't

make you feel like you have to perform "good therapy patient" in our sessions.

For couples and families, I use structured, goal-oriented approaches that help people

actually hear each other — even when communication has broken down completely.

What you can expect from me

Expect a real conversation. Your first session isn't a checklist or a clinical intake —

it's the beginning of us figuring out what you need and whether we're the right fit to

do this work together.

I'll ask about what's going on now, what's been tried, and what you actually want

your life to look like. You won't be rushed, and you don't need to have your story

perfectly organized. Share what feels right to share. By the end of our first session,

we'll have a clear sense of direction and a plan that genuinely reflects your goals —

not a generic roadmap, but yours.

If you've hesitated about therapy before — because it felt too clinical, too slow, or like

it just wasn't for someone like you — I hear that. Reach out. Let's talk.
