Great to meet you!

Welcome! I’m Dr. Maria Baghasarian, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Doctorate in Education. I specialize in humanistic and cognitive behavioral therapy. With a background in psychology and education, I take a holistic and socially conscious approach to therapy, integrating spirituality and evidence-based techniques to support my clients’ mental well-being.

In addition to my clinical work, I am a university instructor at California State University, Los Angeles, and California State University, Long Beach, where I teach Introduction to Family Therapy. My academic and professional experience allows me to offer a well-rounded, compassionate, and empowering therapeutic experience.

I am passionate about helping individuals and families navigate life’s challenges, whether through addressing relationship dynamics, self-esteem, or personal growth. I strive to create a safe, inclusive space where clients feel heard and supported.

If you’re ready to begin your journey toward healing and self-discovery, I’d love to connect with you.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is client-centered, holistic, and integrative, tailored to each individual’s unique needs. I combine Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with a holistic perspective, addressing both the mind and body to foster lasting change.

Using CBT, I help clients recognize and reframe unhelpful thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. This evidence-based approach empowers individuals to develop healthier coping strategies and gain greater control over their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

At the same time, I take a holistic approach by considering all aspects of well-being—including emotional, physical, and spiritual health. I incorporate mindfulness, self-care practices, and, when appropriate, discussions on spirituality to support healing on a deeper level.

I specialize in family therapy, feminist therapy, and body image concerns, creating a safe and supportive space for clients to explore their experiences. My goal is to guide individuals and families toward greater self-awareness, resilience, and meaningful personal growth.

Therapy with me is collaborative, compassionate, and tailored to help you feel empowered in your journey.

What you can expect from me

Clients can expect to leave each session with a greater sense of self-awareness, practical tools for managing challenges, and a deeper understanding of their emotions and relationships. My goal is to create a safe, compassionate, and nonjudgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and empowered to make meaningful changes in their lives.

Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and a holistic approach, clients will learn how to: identify and challenge negative thought patterns, develop healthier coping strategies and emotional regulation skills, strengthen relationships and improve communication, cultivate self-compassion and a positive self-image, integrate mindfulness and self-care into daily life

I believe in fostering a collaborative and empowering environment, where clients feel supported as they work toward personal growth, healing, and long-term well-being. Whether addressing family dynamics, self-esteem, or personal struggles, my goal is to equip clients with the tools and confidence to navigate life’s challenges with resilience and clarity.

I’d love to support you on your journey—let’s work together to create lasting change.
