Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Maria, an EMDRIA certified therapist in Virginia. I love working with high achieving women and professionals who have never had the space to do deep trauma work, along with teens, new and expecting moms, and adults navigating anxiety, ADHD, or substance use. I'd love to help you get there.

My approach to therapy

My approach blends EMDR with cognitive behavioral and trauma focused techniques, so we work through what your mind is holding onto, not just talk around it. For clients managing substance use, I lean on motivational interviewing: no judgment, no lectures, just an honest look at what is and is not working for you. I build on your strengths rather than starting from what is wrong, and I tailor sessions to who you actually are, whether that is a burned out professional, a new mom adjusting to life with a baby, or a teenager pushing back against pressure to achieve. Expect warmth, directness, and real tools you can use between sessions, not just once a week in my office.

What you can expect from me

In our first session we will talk through what brought you to therapy and what you are hoping changes. From there we move at a pace that respects how much you are carrying, using EMDR and practical tools suited to you. Many clients tell me therapy with me feels more like a real conversation than a clinical appointment, and that is exactly the point.
