In my work with clients I draw primarily from emotion-focused and object relations based psychodynamic/psychoanalytic theories. These modalities assume that relationships we have built across our lifetime significantly influence how we view ourselves, each other, and the world around us. Through exploring these relational patterns in therapy, we can come to increasingly greater insight into why we approach romantic partnerships, relationships with our children, our friendships, our perception of ourself, career demands, loss, and pain in ways that are unwanted or that are resulting in disconnection or distress. It is my hope as a provider is that psychotherapy creates a safe enough space for my clients to gain insight, explore new and healthy approaches to coping, build deeper and closer connections with others in their lives, and gain a greater sense of compassion for oneself and others.
