Great to meet you!

I’m Dr. Maria Neizvestnaya, a clinical psychologist with over 15 years of combined experience in therapy and coaching. My approach is warm, collaborative, and evidence-based, drawing from the latest research in neuroscience, human behavior, and the mind-body connection.

I work with adults and young adults navigating anxiety, burnout, life transitions, identity questions, relationship challenges, and chronic health conditions.

I completed my clinical training through Harvard Medical School, where I worked in integrated healthcare settings alongside physicians and mental health teams. My work is guided by the biopsychosocial model, which means I take into account not just symptoms, but your entire experience—your emotional life, physical health, environment, and values.

My approach to therapy

My experience as an immigrant in the U.S., navigating multiple cultural identities and adjusting to a new context, in part shapes my commitment to culturally sensitive, strengths-based, and solution-focused therapy. I offer a space tailored to your values, identity, life experience, and goals. Whether you're feeling stuck or ready to grow, we’ll move forward one step at a time, and I’d be honored to support you on this journey.

Modalities I Use

  • CBT & ACT to help you challenge unhelpful thoughts, manage stress, and take action aligned with your values and goals. These approaches are effective across a range of concerns, including anxiety, depression, trauma, chronic pain, and ADHD.
  • Humanistic, Attachment-Informed & Compassion-Focused Work Drawing from relational, person-centered, and attachment-based frameworks, I foster trust, empathy, and self-compassion throughout the therapeutic process .
  • Somatic Experiencing & Mindfulness-Based Techniques: This mind–body modality helps you reconnect with internal sensations to gently release tension and stress held in the body, supporting the regulation of your nervous system and restoring emotional integration and regulation.
  • Solution-Focused & Strengths-Based Methods I work collaboratively with you to identify and amplify your existing resources, resilience, and lived wisdom. Together, we define clear goals and actionable strategies to support meaningful change.

What you can expect from me

  • You can expect a warm, empathetic, neurodivergent-affirming, and culturally respectful space, anchored in trust, collaboration, and humility.
  • A strengths-based, solution-focused approach that celebrates what’s already working in your life and builds toward sustainable progress through practical tools.
  • Once you experience relief from symptoms that once drained your energy, you will use that energy toward meaningful, values-aligned goals. We’ll track your progress with simple, brief check-ins to celebrate your achievements, see how far you’ve come, and adjust our work together as needed.
  • Key takeaways you might experience:
  • Stress reduction and greater emotional balance, helping you feel calmer and more grounded.
  • Improved resilience and coping skills, empowering you to navigate challenges with more strength and flexibility.
  • Self-compassion that grows your self-esteem and confidence, helping you feel like your own best supporter, even during hard times.
