Great to meet you!

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in Texas and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). I completed my graduate education at Stephen F. Austin State University and have experience working with children, adolescents, and adults from diverse backgrounds. My professional background includes working in nonprofit and community-based settings, where I have supported individuals and families navigating difficult and often complex life experiences.

My clinical experience includes working with individuals experiencing trauma, anxiety, grief and loss, relationship difficulties, life transitions, and emotional or behavioral concerns. I have extensive experience supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as children and adolescents who have experienced trauma or struggle with understanding and managing their emotions.

I have continued to expand my clinical training in trauma-informed care, grief, and working with children and families. As a bilingual therapist, I am able to provide counseling services in both English and Spanish. I am passionate about creating an environment where clients from different backgrounds and life experiences feel welcomed, respected, and understood.

My approach to therapy

My approach to counseling is compassionate, collaborative, and individualized to each client's unique needs and goals. I believe that therapy is not one-size-fits-all, and I strive to meet clients where they are while creating a safe and supportive space where they feel comfortable expressing themselves without fear of judgment.

I use a trauma-informed approach and incorporate evidence-based techniques based on each client's presenting concerns, strengths, and goals. I believe in helping clients better understand the connection between their thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and experiences while developing practical coping skills they can use outside of therapy.

When working with children and adolescents, I recognize that they may not always have the words to express what they are experiencing. I adapt my approach to their developmental needs and work to create an engaging environment where they can build emotional awareness, develop healthy coping skills, and feel comfortable expressing themselves.

Ultimately, I view counseling as a partnership. My role is not to tell clients what decisions to make, but to support them in gaining insight, recognizing their strengths, developing healthier patterns, and working toward meaningful and realistic change in their lives.

What you can expect from me

During our first session, my goal is to help you feel comfortable and give us an opportunity to get to know one another. We will begin with introductions and review confidentiality, including the limits of confidentiality, so you have a clear understanding of your privacy and what you can expect from the counseling process.

We will also talk about what counseling may look like and address any questions or concerns you have about therapy. From there, I will invite you to share what brought you to counseling, what you have been experiencing, and what you hope to gain from our work together. There is no expectation that you share everything during the first session. We will move at a pace that feels comfortable while beginning to identify your needs and goals for therapy.

Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for us to begin building a therapeutic relationship and determine how I can best support you moving forward.
