Great to meet you!

"Before being a therapist, I have been a human being. Being a therapist, I realized how human I am". Means a professional relationship at the same human level: discretion, realism, dedication and dignity distinguish Maria's interventions.

María A. Vargas is a bilingual (English/ Spanish) licensed clinical social worker licensed in TX, FL, IA, RI and MA. She graduated with honors from the prestigious Beatriz Lassalle School of Social Work at the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. However, her most meaningful accomplishment has been the privilege of accompanying people from all walks of life and receiving their trust as a gift.

Staying up-to-date on effective and best practices treating mental health conditions are her priorities as a:

  • Clinical consultant
  • TX board approved clinical supervisor.

My approach to therapy

Change is one of the few constants in life... but we all have been in a place where a "change" on how we relate, reason and think ... has been easier said than done.

When was the last time that you looked into you? As a fellow human being, I know that feeling vulnerable can be unbearable. I believe that we all deserve to be seen and heard, without judgements. I utilize a resiliency-based, trauma informed, and individual centered approach. I also integrate multiple evidence-based interventions, such as:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Solution Focused Therapy
  • Behavioral Activation
  • Narrative Therapy
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy
  • Mindfulness Training
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Crisis Intervention and Safety Planning

I truly enjoy listening to people and empower them to find in therapy a safe space and meaning of their life "story". Find in me an ally, as I also strive on accompanying people to find a personal growth and make informed decisions about their mental health.
