Great to meet you!

Hi, I'm Maria Zavala, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Professional Counselor based in Texas. With over a decade of experience, I offer compassionate, culturally sensitive therapy in both English and Spanish. I work with individuals, couples, families, teens, and children facing a wide range of challenges—from anxiety, depression, and trauma to relationship issues, parenting struggles, and life transitions. Whether you're navigating emotional pain or seeking personal growth, I'm here to support you with empathy, insight, and care.

My approach to therapy

My approach integrates evidence-based practices with specialized training in Biblical Counseling, Sex Therapy, Play Therapy, and Neuropsychotherapy. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where clients feel comfortable exploring their thoughts, feelings, and experiences. My style is conversational, warm, and often infused with humor, helping to build trust and ease while working through life’s challenges. I believe therapy should feel like a collaborative journey—one where you feel heard, supported, and empowered.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming conversation where we begin building a connection. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, current concerns, and goals for therapy, but there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready to. My style is warm, conversational, and often sprinkled with humor to help ease any nerves. I aim to create a safe space where you feel comfortable exploring your thoughts, feelings, and experiences. Together, we’ll start laying the foundation for meaningful and effective work.
