Maribel Nieves

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of Florida with over 20 years of experience in mental health. I am fully bilingual English/Spanish. I grew up in Puerto Rico and move to FL about 30 years ago. I have an intense training and experience in Trauma recovery helping victim of violence, illness or accidents. I also have long years of experience working with grief, relationship issues, mental health afflictions like depression, stress and others. I am also trained and enjoy helping neuro atypical people to develop ways of managing life that can work for them. I can work with all ages 6 and up. I have a certification as child/youth mental health specialist. I enjoy painting and encourage the use of creativity to work through emotional pain.

I choose from my knowledge in the methods of treatment the approaches that is suitable to the needs of my clients. From thought processing and redirection, to practicing new skills, to learning to regulate or tolerate uncomfortable emotions, to recognize the connections between your body, your thoughts and emotions and your connection with others. We also take a look at areas of improvement on diet, sleep patterns, psychical activity and social connections.

During the first session we are going to get comfortable with each other. I will ask questions and allow you to talk about what is affecting you, I will also ask some question about your family history and we will try to determine what we can work first and some ways you can start getting some release or control over yourself.
