Great to meet you!

Most individual, regardless of age or background, need help from time to time to meet their goals. Sometimes, that is that is having a coach walk beside them to help them build self-confidence, managing life work stressors, work on relationships. Other times that is having someone to help them move past their trauma and into a place of hope. Counseling provides individuals with those both.

I have worked over twenty years as a licensed professional counselor. During that time, I have worked in private practice, with social service groups, and with non-profits. I am also a certified teacher, grades Pre-K through 12, have worked in a magnet school for gifted students, and have taught GED, and ABE with Texas Department of Criminal Justice. In 2015, I retired from public education as the director of guidance, counseling, and social work and now, I work for you.

I believe individuals should be involved in their counseling decisions and offer a variety of therapeutic options to meet your counseling goals. I am trained in trauma therapy, EMDR, CBT, TF-CBT and offer a number of other therapy options.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I believe in an individualized, holistic approach to therapy, where the client and counselor work together in partnership to help the client move past their trauma and into a place of hope and peace. This approach allows the client to better understand the source of their distress, anxiety, unhealthy behaviors, and often physical discomforts. The goal is for the client to move forward from the past, manage and even enjoy the present, and set realistic goals for their future.

What you can expect from our first session

Each session is unique and intended to give the client insight to their own abilities to overcome the past, manage the present, and set realistic goals for a happier and more productive future.
