Here's what you should know about how I work:
You're the expert on you. I ask a lot of questions, not because I'm trying to catch you out, but because I actually want to understand what your day-to-day is like. I want to know what's hard, what helps, what you've already tried. You know things about your own brain and life that I don't, and that matters here.
This is a judgment-free zone. Whatever you're dealing with, whether its racing thoughts, trouble focusing, feeling stuck or anxious, intrusive thoughts that won't quit, I've heard it before, and I'm not going to be shocked or disappointed in you. My job is to help, not to judge.
We'll figure things out together. Sometimes treatment involves medication, sometimes it's more about strategies and support, and a lot of the time it's both. I'll always explain my thinking and what our options are, this isn't about me deciding things for you, it's about deciding things with you.
Your privacy matters. What we talk about in our sessions stays between us, with a few important exceptions around safety that I'll explain clearly so there are no surprises.
And finally, progress isn't always a straight line. Some appointments we'll be fine-tuning things that are working well. Others, we'll troubleshoot what's not. Both are totally normal parts of this process.
If you ever have questions, about your diagnosis, your medication, why I'm asking something, or anything else, please ask. The more honest and curious we both are, the better this works.
