Great to meet you!

I'm a Marriage and Family therapist with experience with children, teens, adults, and the elderly. I originally studied dance/movement therapy and like to incorporate the body into my work. I have worked extensively with clients of many backgrounds, especially children of immigrants. I work with common issues like anxiety and depression and have some expertise in working with the shame and guilt caused by religious abuse. I enjoy working with parents, and artistic and creative people.

My approach to therapy

My therapeutic approach is to listen, and help you understand the feelings and behaviors bringing you to therapy. We try to make sense of why you have the symptoms you have. We may do this somatically as well as verbally. We look at patterns learned in your family background and how this shows up in your present relationships. Often clients show up with a pattern of shame, a major impediment to positive relationships. I work to help clients feel safe and accepted, not something being wrong.

What you can expect from me

I am an active listener who shares what I see in a compassionate non-judgmental way. Clients can expect to be affirmed for who they are, with greater knowledge about their patterns so they have choice around changing or maintaining them. I like to work creatively and somatically if you are open to this and see therapy as a journey we take together, with curiosity about what may unfold. I help you become more aware of your feelings and needs and support you in taking the risks to move forward.
