Great to meet you!

Hi! I’m Marina, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT #119862) and the therapist behind Redwood Therapy. I support adults throughout California through online therapy with a special focus on trauma, EMDR, and perinatal mental health.

I’ve always been drawn to the deeper layers of people’s stories, the roots rather than just the surface. After earning my bachelor’s degree in Psychology at UC Santa Barbara, I completed my master’s in Counseling Psychology with an emphasis in Depth Psychology at Pacifica Graduate Institute. My early career took me into inpatient treatment, addiction recovery, community mental health, youth and family therapy, and finally private practice. Through all of it, trauma work quietly became the thread that connected everything for me.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is connection-based, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I strive to create a space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported. I primarily use EMDR, but I tailor therapy to each individual and use other approaches when that feels like a better fit.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other and begin building a sense of safety and connection. I’ll ask questions about your history, current symptoms, and any challenges you’re navigating so I can better understand your experiences and what brings you to therapy. From there, we’ll start identifying your goals and talk about what a supportive, effective plan for our work together might look like. I also may introduce EMDR and some simple coping skills in the first session to begin some symptoms relief as soon as possible.
