Great to meet you!

Taking the step to seek out therapy can feel scary. You may even be wondering, "how can therapy help?" But feeling alone and overwhelmed with trying to "do it alone" simply isn't working. Welcome...I am so glad you're here. I offer a safe, warm, empathic space to explore what's going on in your life. I help people feel less alone and more able to move through their challenges by bringing curiosity, care and compassion to the work of therapy.

Life is a lot right now. Work stress, family stress, parenting stress, political stress, economic stress. Together, we will chart the path forward to help you feel more like yourself.

I have been a therapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) for 11 years and am constantly amazed at the resilience of the human spirit.

I am also an ICF-credentialed Associate Certified Coach (ACC). When appropriate, I'll integrate certain coaching frameworks with clients to support them towards their goals.

My approach to therapy

If clients are interested, I often start our sessions with a brief guided mindfulness practice. With the hectic pace of life, mindfulness can help clients "arrive" from whatever they have been doing before a session.

Clients have shared that they feel truly safe, seen and heard when they work with me.

I integrate CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy) to help diminish anxiety and interrupt negative self-talk or entrenched thought patterns. I use mindfulness to support clients to manage anxiety and depression as well as feel more centered in their lives. I'll use somatic experiencing approaches with clients to help them make the mind/body connection and learn to listen to what their tightened chest or racing heart is trying to tell them. I integrate elements of IFS (internal family systems) to support clients to better understand different parts of themselves and how they relate to the past. I will incorporate solutions-focused therapy to have a more goal-oriented approach to working through challenges. I use narrative therapy to help clients retell parts of their life story which have impacted them deeply, in so doing learning new ways to experience past experiences.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be spent learning about you and hearing what brings you to therapy. I'll ask a bunch of questions to get a sense of the life you've lived but we'll go at your pace. You're always in the "driver's seat". I'll also spend time talking about the importance of "goodness of fit" between you and I, since the most important part of therapy is a strong relationship between the therapist and client. Lastly, we'll talk about the nuts/bolts of scheduling policies and confidentiality in therapy. When it feels right in the second or third session, we'll talk about your goals for therapy. Again, we go at your pace.
