Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Marisol. I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have focused my career on supporting adults through life's ups and downs. If there’s one thing this work has taught me, it’s that human beings are remarkably strong, and change is always possible.

I help adults navigating substance use and addiction, bipolar disorder, depression, PTSD, trauma, and men’s mental health concerns. When life piles up, we all need a judgment-free space to let down our guard and sort through it. Because this work goes deep, I also believe in keeping things human—which means there is always room for a little lighthearted humor along the way.

And since we’ll be meeting remotely, you might even occasionally hear my unofficial "co-therapists"—the click-click of paws or the jingle-jangle of collars from Katie (the Husky) and Alfredo (the rescue dog).

My approach to therapy

In our work together, we’ll look at two things: where you’ve been and where you want to go.

We may explore past experiences, trauma, relationships, or patterns that continue to affect you today, but we will also stay focused on what can help life feel different moving forward.

My style is participatory, inquisitive, and collaborative. I am not going to sit silently and expect you to do all the work by yourself. I’ll ask questions, offer perspective, and help you connect the dots while making room for humor when it fits.

Depending on what you need, I may use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy to build healthier ways of managing thoughts, emotions, and behaviors; Trauma-Focused CBT, Seeking Safety, or Prolonged Exposure when trauma or PTSD is part of the picture; and Motivational Interviewing when you feel conflicted about substance use or another change you are considering. I also draw from Strength-Based, Solution-Focused, Narrative, Humanistic, Psychodynamic, and Schema approaches so therapy can fit the person sitting in front of me rather than forcing you into one particular box.

What you can expect from me

Our first session starts with a congratulations, because reaching out and deciding to do something differently deserves to be acknowledged. From there, there is no checklist you need to complete and no perfect way to tell your story. We’ll talk about what’s happening in your life right now, what’s been weighing on you, and what you hope could feel lighter or more manageable.

We’ll also use that first conversation to see whether my style feels like a good fit for you. If we decide to move forward together, we’ll identify goals and create a pace that feels realistic.

Therapy is not about becoming a different person. It is about understanding yourself better and having more choice in what happens next.
