Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Marisol Garcia, a Registered Clinical Social Work Intern with a Master of Social Work from Boston University. I have experience working with adolescents, adults, and families across outpatient and higher levels of care, including residential treatment for eating disorders and trauma-related concerns.

I specialize in working with anxiety, trauma, eating disorders, depression, life transitions, relationship challenges, and neurodivergent individuals, including Autism and ADHD presentations. I also provide support for individuals navigating emotional overwhelm, perfectionism, self-esteem concerns, and difficulties with identity or connection.

My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and trauma-informed. I believe healing happens in spaces where people feel safe, understood, and accepted without judgment. I strive to create an environment where clients can explore deeper patterns, better understand themselves, and build meaningful, lasting change at a pace that feels supportive and manageable.

As a bilingual therapist, I can also offer services in both English and Spanish.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy with warmth, curiosity, and authenticity. I see therapy as a collaborative process where we work together to better understand the underlying experiences, emotions, and patterns that may be contributing to distress or keeping you feeling stuck.

My work is rooted in a trauma-informed and relational approach, integrating modalities such as Internal Family Systems (IFS), EMDR-informed interventions, Polyvagal Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and mindfulness-based practices.

I often help clients strengthen emotional awareness, improve coping skills, process difficult experiences, navigate relationships, and reconnect with themselves in a more compassionate way. I value looking beyond surface-level symptoms and creating space for deeper insight, nervous system regulation, and sustainable healing.

I also recognize that every individual’s story and needs are unique, so I tailor therapy to fit each client rather than using a one-size-fits-all approach.

What you can expect from me

The first session is an opportunity for us to get to know each other and begin building a comfortable, supportive therapeutic relationship. I understand that starting therapy can feel vulnerable, so I aim to create an environment where clients feel safe, heard, and respected from the very beginning.

During our first session, we will explore what brings you to therapy, discuss any current challenges or concerns, and talk about your goals, hopes, and what you would like support with. I may also ask questions about your background, relationships, emotional experiences, and coping patterns to help me better understand the full picture of your experiences.

Clients can expect a collaborative and nonjudgmental space where they do not have to have everything figured out before starting. Together, we will begin identifying meaningful goals and creating a path toward healing, growth, and greater self-understanding.
