Great to meet you!

I’m a bi-lingual, New Jersey licensed marriage and family therapist with 29 years of clinical experience. I hold a Master of Education (M.Ed.) in Counseling Psychology (Rutgers University) and a post-master’s degree in Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) with a concentration in marriage and family therapy (Seton Hall University.) I have participated in research projects, presented in professional forums, published in the Journal of Marriage and Family Therapy and contributed to a book discussing an integrative approach to psychotherapy with adolescents of color. I have completed all doctoral coursework and qualifying exams (Seton Hall University). However, I realized my passion lies in clinical work rather than academia, so I chose to conclude my program and transition into private practice.

My approach to therapy

I am a generalist, working with adults and providing therapy to individuals, couples and families. I have specialized expertise in complex trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, personality disorders, relational problems, life transitions, LGBTQ+ issues, women’s issues, chronic illness, acculturation issues, single parenthood, codependency and geriatric behavioral health. I have specialized training in evidence-based techniques including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) or “tapping” for relief of emotional distress.

I believe in the rebalancing of energy centers in the body and harmonizing the energy within our spaces. To promote healing, resilience and growth, I often teach mindfulness, relaxation and breathing techniques. I embrace faith and/or spirituality in sessions, at the request of my client, to provide hope. I collaborate with clients to identify and enlist their inner strengths and resources to challenge negative core beliefs and life’s challenges.

What you can expect from me

I have a down-to-earth nature, sense of humor and I’m personable. My empathy and warmth help to create a nonjudgmental space where we will work together to reach your personal and/or professional goals.

My first session usually includes getting to know you better, talking about the specific topic that brought you to therapy, setting goals and developing a plan of action.
