Great to meet you!
Hi! My name is Marissa I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker with about 5 yrs in the mental health field. I have worked in many different areas in the field; from case management to community mental health to crisis intervention and of course individual therapy. Crisis work and individual therapy are my true loves in this field. I love to watch my clients have their "AH HA" moments in individual therapy and I love to see my crisis clients take a breathe of fresh air when they realize someone is truly ready to listen.
In my practice I use evidence-based approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT) and mindfulness techniques from Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
I tend to work with clients who are within the LGBTQ+ community who are dealing with new or chronic symptoms of depression, anxiety and grief.
I studied Health Science at Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, TX (Axe 'em Jacks!) this is where I met my beautiful wife and all of my life long friends. After graduation I moved back to the DFW area to complete my Masters Degree in Social Work at University of Texas at Arlington. I now live in the beautiful city of Houston where I LOVE to find all the best coffee shops, book stores and yummy restaurants across the city.
