Great to meet you!

I’m a California Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR) and have a certification in perinatal mental health (PMH-C). Before I was a therapist, I worked as a preschool teacher. I was drawn to clinical work because of the struggles that I observed in the families of the children in my classrooms. During my clinical training, I worked primarily with couples, teens, and adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse. Though I love working with children, I am passionate about my work with adults because healthy, supported, and self-compassionate adults are the key to health for future generations.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy as a set of tools that I can use alongside my clients to help them heal and reach their goals. My primary goal is always to make sure that I understand my client’s experience. The same trauma does not affect everyone the same way. As therapy progresses, I implement strategies that pull from mindfulness practices, EMDR, art therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and attachment theory. Unfortunately, many of us are still responding to years-old trauma and utilizing childhood coping mechanisms. By understanding my clients and helping them understand themselves, I can help them move through the pain of the past and respond more effectively to present stressors.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, I like to focus on getting to know you and learning about the challenges that are bringing you to therapy. I work with my clients to set goals for our time together and create a plan for how to reach them. My hope is that you leave our first session feeling understood, with a few tools to help them cope, and with a sense of how we will move forward together.
