Marissa Taylor

Hi there, I'm Marissa Taylor, a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. I have worked as an Emergency Room Nurse for over 10 years, then decided to continue my education and become a psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. I earned my Master's degree from Stony Brook University in 2022 and my Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Molloy College. I have gained experience in outpatient psychiatric offices as well as working in inpatient psychiatric units. I have specialized in managing diagnoses such as ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, PTSD, OCD, and major depression. My goal is to help patients who have difficulty finding a provider and, hopefully, provide them with virtual access to psychiatric care to support their needs. I aim to be someone a patient feels comfortable speaking with, being honest with, and making progress with in their mental health. I also stay up to date on ongoing changes in mental health practice. Also, I am fluent in Spanish.

My approach with patients is to be honest, clear, and consistent with my care. I feel that it is important to honor the patient's voice, choices, and personal strengths. Paying close attention to the patient's self-reported experiences without making quick assumptions is a great way to build rapport.

A new client can expect a comprehensive evaluation, open communication, and collaborative treatment planning, and answers to any initial questions. We can discuss what brings you in and what symptoms you currently experience. We can explore past diagnoses, previous treatments or medications, and family mental health history. We can also discuss factors like sleep, stress levels, and daily functioning that affect mental health.
