Great to meet you!

I am Cuban-American, Board Certified. I am also a Diplomat of the American Psychotherapy Assoc. I earned a Doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology, a Masters degree in Mental Health. I served as a public speaker on T.V. and radio. I Published a book, titled "Meant to Last Together". It is geared to help people establish a healthy relationship with themselves first before getting wrapped up in an unhealthy relationship. The book provides a blue print of my career for over 35 years .

My approach to therapy

The approach that I use is to listen and try to be patient by actively paying attention to the feelings and issues affecting the client. This helps them open up by discussing their concerns and issues at hand. The key is to develop empathy and trust. The client needs to feel safe and respected at all times. I focus on the positives and make recommendations as needed. I work at the client's pace. I avoid telling them what to do, instead provide alternatives and recommendations.

What you can expect from me

The client should feel more optimistic after each session. Having a clear understanding of what has been troubling him/her and feel capable of reaching the goals. Some tools may be given to work at home, including writing things which may include a journal or setting a list of goals to discuss during the therapy sessions.
