Great to meet you!

I am Mark Spurlock, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, California license 45318. I have been counseling since 1998 and licensed since 2008. I work with adults by secure video anywhere in California. Much of my work is with men and women dealing with ADHD, anger, anxiety, depression, and trauma, and with couples who feel disconnected or stuck in the same argument. Christian counseling is available whenever you want it and is never imposed. I earned my Master of Science at California State University, Fullerton.

My approach to therapy

Truthful, direct, and kind. I teach practical skills that fit the person: noticing what sets you off, mastering strong emotions, making agreements that hold, and communicating so you are heard. Sessions are structured and goal-directed. I draw on cognitive behavioral, solution-focused, and family systems approaches, explained in plain language. You leave each session with something specific to practice, so the progress shows up in your daily life and not only in our sessions.

What you can expect from me

We start with what brought you in and what you want to be different. I ask about your history, your relationships, and what you have already tried. By the end of the first session you will have a clear picture of what we will work on and one practical tool to use that week.
