Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. My name is Markeda Cotton, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, PMHNP-BC, and I am a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner dedicated to helping individuals achieve emotional wellness and improved quality of life. With over 10 years of nursing experience and several years as a nurse practitioner, I have worked with diverse populations across primary care, cardiology, behavioral health, addiction medicine, women’s health, and chronic disease management.

I earned my Master of Science in Nursing with a concentration in Nursing Informatics from Grand Canyon University, completed my Family Nurse Practitioner education at Wilmington University, and obtained my Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner post-master’s certificate from Walden University. I am also currently pursuing my Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP).

I specialize in treating anxiety, depression, ADHD, mood disorders, stress-related conditions, trauma, and substance use disorders. My mission is to provide compassionate, evidence-based care that supports healing, growth, and long-term wellness.

My approach to therapy

My approach is collaborative, holistic, and patient-centered. I believe that meaningful mental health care begins with listening and understanding each person’s unique story. I work alongside my clients to develop individualized treatment plans that align with their goals, values, and lifestyle.

I provide a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable discussing their concerns. Treatment may include medication management, education, lifestyle recommendations, and therapeutic support. I focus on helping clients understand their symptoms, build effective coping strategies, and create sustainable improvements in their overall well-being.

I believe in treating the whole person—not just the diagnosis—by considering the emotional, physical, social, and environmental factors that influence mental health.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is an opportunity for us to get to know one another and begin building a strong therapeutic relationship. We will discuss your current concerns, mental health and medical history, previous treatments, stressors, strengths, and goals for care.

My goal is to create a welcoming, comfortable environment where you feel heard, respected, and supported. Together, we will develop a personalized treatment plan and discuss recommendations that best fit your needs. By the end of the session, you can expect to have a clearer understanding of your symptoms, treatment options, and the next steps toward achieving your mental health goals.
