I have over 15 years of experience working in various settings and with different populations. Some of these include: individual and group therapy at a domestic violence agency; in-home therapy with children ages 5-16; private practice setting working with children and adults; group and individual therapy in an adult outpatient unit at a hospital; and therapy in a partial hospital program. In my sessions, I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Practices.
I am direct and supportive in my sessions. Although the client will take the lead in setting goals, I believe it is my role as therapist, to challenge behaviors that have been causing conflict or preventing the client from achieving goals. My philosophy around the therapeutic relationship, is that it is a gift. The client shares their vulnerabilities and puts their trust in the therapist to help them through difficulties; for the therapist to be able to be a part of their healing is a gift.
It is most important for me, to teach clients the tools they need in order to better manage stress and better cope with conflict. Once the client begins to utilize these tools, they are able to improve relationships and enjoy life more fully.
