Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Marlon L. Johnson, a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with Supervisory Designation (LPCC-S) and a Licensed Independent Chemical Dependency Counselor (LICDC) in Ohio. I earned my master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and my Master of Arts in Practical Theology from Ashland Theological Seminary, along with my bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Cleveland State University. I am certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and have training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

My approach is relaxed, collaborative, and nonjudgmental. I believe therapy begins with meeting you where you are and creating a space where you can feel comfortable being yourself. Whether you are navigating mental health concerns, substance use, trauma, relationship challenges, or life transitions, we will work together at a pace that respects your readiness for change.

My approach to therapy

I use an eclectic approach, drawing from different therapeutic methods to fit your needs, strengths, and goals. Together, we can explore patterns, build practical coping skills, and work toward meaningful changes. My goal is for you to feel heard, supported, and empowered as you move forward.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, you can expect a relaxed, welcoming, and nonjudgmental conversation. We’ll talk about what brought you to therapy, what you’re currently navigating, and what you hope to gain from our work together. I’ll ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, and needs, while giving you space to share at your own pace.

We’ll also discuss how therapy works, confidentiality, and any questions you may have. Together, we’ll begin identifying goals and an approach that feels right for you. You don’t need to have everything figured out before we meet—my goal is to meet you where you are and help you feel heard, supported, and comfortable taking the next step.
