Your first session is a chance for us to begin building a safe, collaborative relationship where you can feel heard, respected, and understood. I recognize that starting therapy can bring up a range of emotions, and we'll move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. There is no expectation to share everything at once—your sense of safety and choice are an important part of the process.
During our first meeting, we'll talk about what has brought you to therapy, the challenges you're currently facing, and the experiences that have shaped your life. Together, we'll explore not only your symptoms or concerns, but also your strengths, relationships, coping strategies, and the patterns that may be influencing how you experience yourself and others.
My approach integrates psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). This means we'll work to understand how past experiences and relationships may continue to impact your present while also developing practical skills to manage emotions, reduce distress, challenge unhelpful thought patterns, and create meaningful, lasting change. I believe insight and self-compassion, combined with effective coping strategies, can support healing and growth.
Our first session is also an opportunity for you to get a sense of whether I feel like the right fit for you. I welcome your questions about my approach, the therapy process, or anything that will help you feel more comfortable. Together, we'll identify your goals and begin creating a treatment plan that honors your unique experiences, values, and hopes for the future.
Above all, my goal is to provide a space where you feel accepted without judgment, empowered to be your authentic self, and supported as we work together toward healing, resilience, and a deeper understanding of yourself.
