Great to meet you!

Marquetta McCleod is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with over 17 years of experience serving children, families, and individuals through a trauma-informed and culturally responsive lens. Her professional journey spans more than 15 years in social services, including extensive work with Child Protective Services (CPS) in both emergency response and ongoing support. She has also provided guidance to diverse populations through county health and social service programs, including CalWORKs recipients, families experiencing homelessness, and individuals with disabilities.

Licensed since 2019, Marquetta brings a compassionate and practical approach to therapy, leadership, and community outreach. As the Founder and Executive Director of MNM Project HOPE, a nonprofit she has successfully led for the past four years, she has built a haven of healing that offers low-to-no-cost mental health services, outreach, and training for emerging clinicians.

Grounded in her values of spirituality, leadership, and reliability, Marquetta is dedicated to empowering underserved communities and nurturing the next generation of culturally competent therapists. Her vision is to make holistic, heart-centered care accessible to all, while inspiring hope, growth, and lasting change in every life she touches.

My approach to therapy

Mrs. McCleod’s therapeutic approach is holistic, empowering, and spiritually grounded. Guided by her core values of spirituality, leadership, and service, she integrates Narrative Therapy, Culturally Relevant, and Solution-Focused approaches within a trauma-informed and compassionate framework. She views each individual as a whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and creates a safe, affirming space for healing, growth, and self-discovery. Through her leadership and mentorship, she empowers clients to develop self-awareness, resilience, and emotional balance, encouraging them to become leaders in their own lives. Deeply committed to service and hope, Mrs. McCleod extends her mission through MNM Project HOPE, providing accessible, culturally responsive mental health services that promote healing, empowerment, and lasting change within the community.

What you can expect from me

During the first session with Mrs. McCleod, clients can expect a welcoming and compassionate space to share their story at their own pace. The focus is on building trust, understanding your unique experiences, and identifying the goals you’d like to work toward. Together, you’ll explore what has brought you to therapy, discuss your hopes for healing and growth, and begin creating a collaborative plan that reflects your values, culture, and strengths. The first session is about connection, safety, and beginning the journey toward self-awareness and empowerment.
