Great to meet you!

Sometimes people take care of others much more effectively than they take care of themselves. It is not uncommon for people with high levels of empathy to find themselves asking themselves what happened? What led you to feel so burdened, anxious, and/or alone, when all you wanted to do was be kind to others. If this sounds like you or if you are experiencing loss/grief, anxiety, racing thoughts, difficulty functioning like you used to, or need to learn how to better care for yourself, therapy is just a step away. There is relief and there is hope for some new ways to experience life. There really are ways to treat your whole self - where you can find relief from past events, find peace for where you are and live in hope of the future. You deserve to work with someone who is as dedicated to your process as you are and will work hard with you in session, who demonstrates active listening and someone fully invested in where you are right now, where you have been and where you want to go. Someone to help you tie it all together in a holistic way.

My name is Marsha Pontius. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I am fully dedicated to what I do. After graduating top of my class some years ago, I worked in some very difficult situations. I worked on a mental health team alongside the first responders on calls where someone had died by suicide, worked in a psychiatric hospital treating those with severe issues, worked with those with complex trauma, counseling individuals, couples, and families.

I am also trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and use this with many of my clients, as well as other therapeutic techniques in the treatment of many disorders.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I have an unwavering belief in the potential for change and growth in everyone. Every day I see courageous clients moving forward in their lives through the work we do -together. My approach is empathetic and non-judgmental. I use a combination of therapeutic approaches to help a client gain insight, healing and empowerment in their lives.

What you can expect from our first session

The first session I will perform a biopsychosocial assessment to get to know you. Once I understand more about you and what you are experiencing, we will set your goals and make a treatment plan. Over time, you will begin to feel differently towards yourself, others and your life. As you begin to unfold and emerge, you will begin to understand yourself in new ways. In time, your life will change because you are making lasting positive changes!
