Great to meet you!

My lifelong dream (since I was 11 years old) has been to be a helper. I have a BSW and and LICSW in social work and have been working for 20 years with children, adults, couples and the elderly. Currently, my clients of choice are seniors. As an older adult myself, I speak your language and understand the process you are encountering. I work with individuals who are experiencing depression, anxiety, OCD and panic.

My approach to therapy

As an advocate for ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) my goal for you is to have a full and meaningful life. I work in partnership with you so that you are an active participant in your own therapy process. My strong characteristics are warmth, acceptance and humor. I have a flexible approach and may also use mindfulness, CBT and imago type communication skills.

What you can expect from me

In the first session I will do an intake. This means finding more about you and what brought you to counselling. This is a time that we get to know a little about each other. I may do the ABC's of counselling which means "A" (antecedent) what was it like before the issue surfaced. "B" what Behaviors are you doing because of this issue and "C" what are the Consequences for you with relationships, work and health. Finally, I would give you a brief preview of ACT therapy and provide a handout which can be downloaded if appropriate.
