Great to meet you!

I am a licensed psychologist offering telehealth therapy for adults in early and midlife across Montana. I work with people who feel lost, overwhelmed, unseen, or trapped. Whether you are carrying trauma, struggling with depression or anxiety, stuck in painful relationship patterns, or functioning on the outside while feeling depleted underneath, therapy can help you understand and move through what feels most painful or stuck.

My style is active, honest, and collaborative. I am warm and direct. I listen carefully, ask real questions, and provide thoughtful feedback to help you better understand what is happening and what may need to change.

My background includes doctoral training in clinical psychology, additional education and experience in trauma and crisis work, and clinical experience in medical and academic settings. I also had a previous career as a hospital chaplain. I am comfortable working with both symptoms and deeper concerns: suffering, meaning, faith, conscience, identity, loss, and major life transitions. Spiritual or religious concerns can be part of the work when they matter to you, but they do not have to be.

I offer telehealth only, so you can meet with me from anywhere in Montana. I accept insurance through Headway and offer a free 15-minute consultation to see whether working together would be a good fit. I have limited openings, so please reach out if you are interested.

My approach to therapy

My approach is primarily relational, psychodynamic, and trauma-informed. That means I care about symptom relief, but I also attend to what is happening beneath the surface: avoidance, shame, anger, fear, grief, self-protection, and the patterns that keep showing up in your relationships or inner life.

I use interventions from CBT, ACT, and mindfulness-based approaches when they are genuinely helpful. Some sessions are practical and focused on coping, decision-making, or emotional regulation. Others are more exploratory and focused on understanding what keeps repeating. All sessions start with where you are when you arrive.

The therapeutic relationship itself is part of the work. How safe, guarded, understood, frustrated, or challenged you feel in therapy with me can tell us something important about how you move through the rest of your life. My goal is to help you move from what inhibits your growth toward greater emotional honesty, responsibility, freedom, and aliveness.

What you can expect from me

The first session is mostly about getting oriented. I will ask what is bringing you in now, what feels most urgent, what you have already tried, and what you hope therapy will help you face or change.

I will also ask about relevant history, relationships, symptoms, strengths, risk or safety concerns, and what has made therapy helpful or unhelpful in the past.

By the end, I will share my initial impressions and we will talk honestly about whether I seem like a good fit. If we decide to continue, we will identify a direction for the work. If I think another provider or level of care would serve you better, I will tell you directly.
