Great to meet you!

Hi friends, I am here to help in any way I can: problems big and small. I have spent the last 3+ years at DaVine Counseling Center in Daphne Alabama working mostly with children and teens. My boss calls me the kid whisperer. I have found working with adults that there is an inner child that can usually use some healing. I have 6 children of my own that we are raising with Christian values and know all too well the frustrations and joys that come with raising kids as well as teaching them to regulate their own emotions. I look forward to helping you and your children do the same.

My approach to therapy

I use a client centered approach to counseling understanding that you are the expert in yourself. Carl Rogers is my inspiration for working with adults and teens, and Mr. Fred Rogers is my inspiration for working with kids. "What do you do with the mad that you feel," and "It's you, I like," are my favorite Mr. Rogers's songs to use with kids in session. I will not sing to an adult. My primary focus is to get my clients to like themselves by pointing out their strengths and to get other people to like them more if that is something they would like.

What you can expect from me

The environment I aim to create is one of not expecting anyone coming through my door to do anything but let me help them carry their burden. We can move as slowly or as quickly as the client would like. My first job is to seek to understand him or her as much as I can. My office sits next to a big back yard perfect for hyperactive children to get some of their energy out while learning about feelings and effective ways to express them that do not hurt themselves or anyone else.
