Great to meet you!

I want my clients to know that I am committed to creating a supportive, respectful, and nonjudgmental environment where they feel heard, valued, and empowered. As a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor with a Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision and more than 15 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities and mental health challenges, I bring both professional expertise and a person-centered approach to counseling. I believe every individual has unique strengths, experiences, and goals, and my role is to work collaboratively with clients by providing guidance, resources, encouragement, and support as they address barriers and make informed decisions about their lives. Above all, I value compassion, honesty, cultural responsiveness, and respect for individual differences while helping clients recognize their potential and pursue greater independence, personal growth, and quality of life.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is person-centered, strengths-based, collaborative, and culturally responsive. I believe clients are the experts on their own experiences, and my role is to provide a supportive and nonjudgmental environment where they can openly explore concerns, recognize their strengths, and identify meaningful goals. I work collaboratively with clients to address barriers, develop effective coping and problem-solving strategies, and make informed decisions that support their personal growth and well-being. My approach also emphasizes empowerment, self-determination, and helping each person achieve greater independence and an improved quality of life.

What you can expect from me

During your first session, you can expect a welcoming, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where we can begin getting to know one another. We will discuss what brought you to counseling, any concerns or challenges you may be experiencing, and what you hope to accomplish through therapy. I will also ask questions to better understand your background, strengths, experiences, support systems, and any barriers that may be affecting your well-being. We will review confidentiality, discuss what you can expect from the counseling process, and begin identifying goals that are meaningful to you. Most importantly, the first session is an opportunity for you to ask questions, become comfortable with the counseling process, and determine how we can work together to support your growth, well-being, and quality of life.
