Great to meet you!

Hello, I’m Marydean Brown, a Mental Health Advocate and therapist dedicated to strengthening individuals and families through a trauma-informed, strengths-based lens. My work centers on helping clients rediscover their resilience, develop healthier coping strategies, and build meaningful, balanced relationships.

I earned my Master of Social Welfare from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with certification in Trauma-Informed Care and a focus in Africology. I also hold a Bachelor of Social Welfare and an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice. My educational foundation allows me to integrate clinical skill, cultural awareness, and systems-level understanding into my practice.

My approach to therapy

My clinical approach is compassionate, direct, and empowering. I specialize in:

  • Trauma and trauma recovery
  • Youth aggression and behavioral challenges
  • Family strengthening and parent support
  • Couples therapy, including addressing controlling dynamics
  • Emotional regulation and coping skill development
  • Culturally responsive therapy

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families, helping clients understand how past experiences influence present behaviors while equipping them with practical tools for change. My goal is not just symptom reduction, but transformation — supporting clients in building emotional safety, accountability, and long-term resilience.

What you can expect from me

Taking the first step toward therapy is a big decision. In our first session, my priority is helping you feel safe, respected, and heard. Our initial meeting is about understanding your story — not judging it. Therapy with me is collaborative. I believe you are the expert on your life. My role is to help guide, support, and challenge you in ways that promote growth and healing.
