Great to meet you!

Hi ,I'm Mary Kate! I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, and the founder of Beckmen Behavioral Health, PLLC. I specialize in working with teens, college students, and young adults who are impacted by adoption, attachment disruptions, anxiety, & trauma.

I became a therapist because I know what it’s like to feel overwhelmed, stuck, and unsure of what comes next. That’s why I believe therapy works best when it’s grounded in real connection. I show up as my true self with honest, empathetic, down-to-earth support with no judgment or pressure.

I work with teens, college students, and young adults experiencing anxiety, identity questions, life stress, and all the messy, hard-to-define challenges that come with growing up. I can relate to the pressure of balancing school, work, relationships, and just trying to keep up with everything.

As an adoptee, I understand the complexities and the emotional impact of not always feeling like you belong. That’s why I specialize in working with individuals who have experienced trauma, attachment disruptions, and members of the adoption triad.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I believe that growth happens in the moments when we feel safe enough to laugh, vent, or just be ourselves. My approach is pretty straightforward—no fluff, no judgment. I’m here to help you get clear on what’s going on, support you in making real changes, and figure out how to handle life’s challenges with more confidence.

I utilize a variety of therapy types to best meet the needs of my clients. This includes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) to help challenge negative thought patterns, mindfulness practices to promote self-awareness and relaxation, and creative interventions to encourage self-expression.

What you can expect from our first session

Life can get overwhelming—whether it's school, work, relationships, or just figuring out where you're headed. You don’t have to have it all figured out right now, but it can be helpful to have someone in your corner.

In therapy, we’ll take a clear look at what's on your mind and work together to make sense of it all. You'll find ways to manage stress, get back to feeling confident, and start moving in a direction that feels right for you.

It's all about getting you back on track and feeling ready for whatever comes next.
