Great to meet you!

Hi, nice to meet you! Allow me to tell you a little bit about myself. I have been working with clients for over 25 years in many different mental health and health settings including, clinics, residential care, hospice, and private practice. I also worked at one time exclusively with survivors of sexual assault and childhood sexual abuse. I have experience working with people of all ages, genders, religions, sexualities, and racial identities. I have a masters degree in social work, and am a licensed clinical social worker and a certified clinical trauma professional. I am also certified in Dialectical Behavior Therapy.

My specialty area is working with clients who have been through all different forms of trauma and I use a combination of different treatment modalities depending on your symptoms and individual factors. I believe in a holistic approach to healing mind, body and spirit. Some of the therapies I use include, Somatic Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Progressive Counting, Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and Internal Family Systems, among others. Depending on your beliefs, I can also incorporate spirituality and religion into our therapy sessions, which has been shown to improve outcomes greatly in trauma recovery.

My approach to therapy

I always start with a person-centered approach. That means my focus is always on you - getting to know you, building a working relationship in which you'll feel comfortable and safe. Trust builds the foundation for the work. I believe it is absolutely critical for you to feel empowered, while at the same time I keep the direction of therapy moving.

What you can expect from me

Despite what some people think about trauma therapy, it is not only about talking about your trauma. In fact, most often that will only make things worse. I will teach you how trauma has affected your brain, your neurobiological chemicals, your body functions, your thoughts, and your behaviors. Then we will work on reducing the negative effects of trauma, such as feelings of guilt and shame, and we'll work to increase feelings of well-being, relaxation, and peace - which will reach into many areas of your life!
