Great to meet you!

I'm the therapist for anyone who is looking for an alternative to cookie cutter therapy. I often work with clients who are new to therapy, had a negative experience with past therapy, or are interested to integrate energy psychology into their therapy.

I graduate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 1998, beginning my work in outpatient centers, focused on substance use and mental health issues. In 2013, I opened my private practice, River's Journey Counseling, to continue the work I am passionate about while creating a more ideal work/ life balance.

I primarily work with adults who are experiencing life changes and transitions, sadness to depression, worry to anxiety, or seeking support for their personal growth journey. I currently am seeing clients online only.

My approach to therapy

My approach to therapy is eclectic, holistic, and person-centered. I blend a variety of modalities and strategies that I have found to be helpful for most of my clients. In my opinion, therapy should be an opportunity to learn more about the cause or root of what is creating difficulties or challenges in life, to provide a safe place for healing, and an opportunity to have a guide along the way to positive and lasting change. Everyone is welcome to work with me, I consider myself an ally.

What you can expect from me

Typically, the individuals I work with report receiving consistent support and acceptance, which can leave them feeling more confident, with new clarity, and a better understanding of their next steps -- steps that are perfectly aligned with who they are now and who they are ready to become.
