Great to meet you!

Hello,

My training, at Virginia Tech, centered on a trauma-focused, cognitive behavioral approach to address the needs of children, families, and adults. My subsequent 25 years of professional experience and training have sharpened my skills across a wide array of modalities and populations enabling me to assess for the unique needs of my clients and to utilize the most effective technique to address their specific issues.

My approach to therapy

I work with clients by initially assessing the presenting problems to inform a full understanding of the issues. We then work together to collaborate on the most effective treatment plan utilizing the most appropriate treatment technique for your particular issues. We then continuously assess our progress relative to our established goals and make adjustments, when needed. In short, I approach treatment from a goal -oriented perspective with appropriate room for flexibility.

What you can expect from me

I believe in empowering clients to effect ongoing and sustaining change in their own lives. My goal is first to increase your insight into your issues and to then help you to develop more effective coping skills to mange your emotional health and to improve your functioning.
