Great to meet you!

Hi, I’m Dr. Mary Torok, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida with over 15 years of experience. I help adults, children, and families navigate anxiety, depression, trauma, stress, relationship challenges, and life transitions that can make everyday life feel overwhelming. Many of the people I work with come to therapy feeling stuck, emotionally drained, disconnected, or unsure how to move forward. Some are struggling with communication problems, family conflict, low confidence, parenting stress, or the effects of past experiences that still impact the present. I use evidence-based approaches such as CBT, EMDR, positive psychology, solution-focused therapy, family systems work, and mindfulness to help clients build insight, strengthen coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change. I’m passionate about creating a safe, empowering space where you can feel understood and supported while learning tools to overcome obstacles and move toward healing.

My approach to therapy

My therapy style is friendly, empowering, and practical, designed to help you feel comfortable, respected, and supported from the start. I believe in working together to find strategies that fit your life, your goals, and your unique strengths. I use approaches like EMDR to help process trauma and distressing experiences, CBT to identify and change negative thought patterns that contribute to anxiety and depression, and mindfulness to support emotional regulation and stress management. I also draw from solution-focused therapy, positive psychology, and family systems work to improve communication, build confidence, strengthen relationships, and help clients move through life transitions with more clarity and resilience. My goal is not just symptom relief, but helping you feel more capable, connected, and confident in your daily life.

What you can expect from me

In your first session with me, you’ll find a welcoming and supportive environment where you can begin talking about what brought you to therapy. Whether you’re dealing with anxiety, depression, stress, trauma, family concerns, relationship issues, or feeling overwhelmed by life’s demands, we’ll start by understanding what feels most important right now. Together, we’ll identify goals that matter to you, such as improving communication, building confidence, reducing stress, processing painful experiences, or developing healthier coping skills. I’ll also help you understand how therapy works and what approaches may be most helpful based on your needs. My aim is for you to leave the first session feeling heard, respected, hopeful, and empowered as we begin building a path toward healing and positive change.
