Great to meet you!

Teaching art in high school for years taught me to listen to people and encourage them follow a healthy and practical path to fulfillment in life. I went back to school and enjoyed the counseling field so much. I have been a counselor 18 years. I have worked in schools, churches, and private practice, with individuals and couples. Every person has had a compelling story and I love walking the path to healing through a therapy that is specifically designed for that person.

My approach to therapy

Although I am proficient in many therapeutic styles, I believe each individual requires their own specific approach. I want to hear a person’s story, help with setting long-term goals, and then finding skills and methods to accomplish those goals. Primarily, I use an integrative style, depending on the situation. I like the skills based approach of Dialectic Behavior Therapy, but feel that it is important to address the heart of a person as well with person centered, existential therapy, and solution-based. I am also trained in and frequently work with trauma survivors (PTSD and complex PTSD) as well.

What you can expect from me

I like to spend time the first session getting to know the person and understanding what has brought them to counseling. I look to find your expectations and identify your long and short term goals. I want to accompany you on the path to healing that best suits you.
