Great to meet you!

I'm Maryana Helu, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in California. I have been licensed since 2016 and hold a Master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy from Loma Linda University.

My work centers on adults navigating depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, and stress, and I also have years of experience working with parents, growing families, and the lasting impact of adverse childhood experiences. Mindfulness is a consistent thread through everything I do.

My goal as your therapist is to help you create real, lasting change that brings balance, joy, and peace to your life. My practice is telehealth-based and serves clients throughout California.

I look forward to seeing if we are a good fit.

My approach to therapy

I work with a lot of clients who have quietly carried depression, anxiety, or unprocessed trauma for years. I also work with parents navigating major life transitions while struggling with their own history of childhood adversity. I prioritize building a collaborative and open relationship with you because I believe it is important to feel safe while trying new and hard things. Lasting change happens when we do something different that improves how we relate to ourselves and others. My approach draws from Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Attachment Theory, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Strengths-Based techniques. I tailor my methods to each client and where they are right now. Whatever brought you here, I meet you exactly where you are and we build from there.

What you can expect from me

Our first session is a chance to get to know each other. I want to learn what brought you to therapy, what has been most challenging lately, and what change you are hoping our time together will help with. I will also share how I work and what you can expect from our sessions. You do not need to have everything figured out before we meet. Just showing up is the first step.
