Great to meet you!

Hello, and welcome. When entering into therapy with me, you will find that I hold your experiences, perspectives, and approach to life with great care and regard, while remaining humbly curious about ways you would like to grow. You will find that I engage the dialogue of healing with empathy. As a trauma survivor with 35 years of sobriety, I understand the recovery process from the inside out, as well as from the outside in through the lens of my training as a therapist. My areas of emphasis in practice are trauma, phase two addiction recovery, anxiety, OCD, depression, marital therapy, parenting, life transitions, and the integration of spirituality with the science of psychology. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in the state of California with undergraduate degrees in music and education. My experiences as a professional include roles as a primary therapist on an eating disorder unit in a hospital setting, a therapist in the school-site setting, LMFT in the private practice setting, as well as experience as an elementary educator, a music educator, homeschooling parent, wife, and mother of three successful young adults.

My approach to therapy

My primary approach to therapy is psychodynamic which means that your life experience compels the beginning point for our dialogue of healing. Understanding that client needs are personal and largely varied, I use an eclectic approach to psychotherapy and therapeutic interventions. Other approaches from which I utilize interventions are CBT, SFBT, mindfulness, meditation, and grounding techniques.

What you can expect from me

In our first session together clients may expect an experience of acceptance, warmth and safety. Clients may also expect that I will ask many questions with humble curiosity to obtain a thorough understanding of their needs, as well as collaborative dialogue to develop goals, and a basic plan for movement towards a thriving and happy life.
