Great to meet you!

My path to becoming a therapist began in storytelling. As a native of Atlanta, Georgia, I earned my bachelor’s degree in Broadcast Journalism from Hampton University and started my career in journalism. While covering stories, I found myself increasingly drawn to the people behind the headlines—their emotions, struggles, resilience, and lived experiences. That passion ultimately led me to pursue counseling and dedicate my career to helping others heal and grow.

I later earned my Master’s degree in Counseling with a concentration in Mental Health Counseling from Old Dominion University and became a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2020. Since then, I’ve worked with adolescents, adults, families, and veterans navigating life transitions and emotional challenges. I specialize in helping individuals manage anxiety, depression, anger, stress, relationship concerns, and adjustment difficulties.

I believe that a healthy mind contributes to a healthy body and soul. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and judgment-free space where you feel heard, understood, and empowered to move toward meaningful change.

My approach to therapy

I take a solution-focused and collaborative approach to therapy, blending Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients develop healthier thought patterns, emotional awareness, and practical coping strategies. I believe therapy should not only provide insight, but also equip you with tools you can apply in everyday life.

My style is direct, honest, and compassionate. I will challenge you when necessary while always meeting you with empathy and support. Together, we’ll identify the barriers that may be keeping you stuck, explore patterns that no longer serve you, and create realistic goals that align with the life you want to build.

Whether you are navigating anxiety, depression, relationship difficulties, anger, or major life transitions, I strive to help you feel empowered, resilient, and capable of creating lasting positive change.

What you can expect from me

Your first session is designed to be welcoming, supportive, and informative. We’ll begin by getting to know each other and discussing what brought you to therapy. I’ll explain my therapeutic approach, review important information such as confidentiality and session expectations, and answer any questions you may have about the counseling process.

During this initial conversation, I’ll ask about your current concerns, personal history, emotional well-being, and goals for therapy so I can better understand how to support you. Most importantly, this session is an opportunity for you to determine whether you feel comfortable and connected with me as your therapist.

Starting therapy can feel like a big step, and I’m committed to creating a space where you feel safe, respected, and encouraged throughout your journey toward healing and growth.
