Great to meet you!

I am a psychiatrist trained in adult psychiatry, though I do have some experience working in adolescent and geriatric psychiatry as well. I try to integrate western medicine approaches to care with more holistic approaches, which often includes providing psychotherapy, medications, and lifestyle modification. I have specific interest in different psychotherapy modalities, and often incorporate some aspects of psychotherapy in my visits with clients even if this is not the primary focus. In my work, I like to focus on your strengths, goals, and values as the main components of our treatment plan. I try to bring a curious, open-minded, and compassionate energy to my work.

My approach to therapy

My primary concern in providing care is making sure that you feel empowered to make treatment choices that make sense and feel right for you individually. I see myself as a source of experience, information, and support to facilitate and empower you to make informed decisions that align with your values and goals at any given time. This can include a variety of approaches, including different therapy modalities, medications, and holistic approaches. I also recognize and try to take into account systemic oppression and social pressures and stresses that make it difficult to find care and the impacts these have on mental health.

What you can expect from me

Our first session will be spent getting to know you and your history in more detail, as well as exploring the details of your mental health concerns in particular the impact on your life. We will then spend time discussing different treatment options and coming up with treatment plan that feels right to you. Whether you choose to start medications or not, each session we will discuss what skills and services you need to move forward with your goals. Each treatment plan is specific to where you are in life and where you want to be.
