Great to meet you!

You need insight into your problems, not more advice. I'm Matt, a licensed professional specializing in helping teens and emerging adults (13–30) keep their footing in the whirlwind of adolescence and becoming an adult.

My approach to therapy

Working with me, you’ll explore new ideas about yourself, investigate problems in a novel way, and actively experiment with new solutions. My previous fifteen years of work as a high school teacher, advisor, dean, and school administrator gives me a deep, systemic understanding of the exact developmental hurdles young people face today My expertise is helping you uncover the values, relationships, and tools that create a grounded life in a turbulent world.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a dedicated space for you to talk about what's bringing you in, and why now. It is not a place where you'll be judged, evaluated, or criticized. You can expect genuine curiosity, authenticity, and an attuned ear from the very first time we sit down.

We will accomplish three distinct things:

  • Map the Whirlwind: You’ll tell me what's currently making you feel unmoored. Whether it’s a specific milestone like a new job, classroom burnout, a major school transition, or just a general sense that your current routines aren't holding you up.
  • Explore Your Context: We will look closely at the expectations being placed on you—by family, peers, culture, or yourself—to fully acknowledge and name the breadth of stressors in your life.
  • Test a Solution: Before you walk out the door or log off, we will collaborate on one small, practical experiment for you to actively try out in your daily routine.

Building trust is a gradual process, and I am committed to moving at a pace that feels comfortable and safe for you. You can always not answer a question asked in therapy.
