Great to meet you!

If you're a young adult navigating early adulthood tasks like college, career, independence, or figuring out your next steps, I genuinely love this work. I'm Matt, an LCSW in New York with a background in behavioral health and addiction treatment. I also work with adults of all ages facing anxiety, depression, substance use, stress, and life transitions. My goal is a warm, nonjudgmental space where you feel comfortable being yourself and working toward a life that feels meaningful and authentic.

In my free time, I enjoy making memories with my daughters, playing guitar, and spending time outdoors hiking, birdwatching, or fishing. These hobbies keep me connected to the things I value most: curiosity, resilience, and appreciating life's quieter moments.

My approach to therapy

My approach is person-centered and tailored to each individual. I draw on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to identify patterns keeping you stuck, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) for emotion regulation and distress tolerance, and Motivational Interviewing to explore what you want to change and what gets in the way. A strengths-based lens runs through all of it. Together we'll build on what's already working in you, and develop practical strategies for what isn't, at a pace that feels right for you.

What you can expect from me

The first session is a chance for us to get to know each other. I'll ask what's bringing you to therapy, a bit about your background, and what you'd like to get out of our work together. You'll also have space to ask questions and decide whether I feel like the right fit. My goal is a relaxed environment where you don't feel pressured to have it all figured out. By the end, we'll have a clearer picture of your concerns, some initial goals, and a starting plan.
