Great to meet you!

Hello! I'm Matt Brown, a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner with a decade of nursing experience. I have always had a passion for helping those who are unwell, and it truly brings me joy to witness my patients grow and evolve into the best versions of themselves. In my free time, I cherish moments spent with my family, whether at home or enjoying a vacation together. My favorite way to relax is spending time with my wife, with whom I have shared 13 incredible years. Whether we're cooking together, tackling household chores, making music, running errands, or simply enjoying each other's company, those shared moments refuel my energy levels.

A bit about my approach to therapy

I will not prescribe controlled medications.* There are many helpful alternatives,

I begin with low medication dosages for my patients, as we explore how they will respond. Together, we will make adjustments to achieve the results you desire. It's important to me that you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts in a warm and supportive environment. If you need to cry or find it hard to express yourself during our session, that's perfectly okay. We will navigate this journey together.

*I choose not to prescribe controlled substances to my patients for two main reasons: First, I deeply care about my patients' health and safety. The risk of addiction to controlled substances is very high. These drugs can impair judgment and coordination, particularly when mixed with alcohol or illicit substances, leading to dangerous behaviors and/or serious injuries. Second, using controlled substances can result in heart problems, anxiety, agitation, depression, and even psychosis. My commitment is to work alongside my patients, empowering them to make choices that safeguard and enhance their futures for themselves and their families.

What you can expect from our first session

My primary goal for our sessions is to ensure you feel comfortable and at ease. Creating a safe environment where you can express yourself freely is crucial. As we end our appointment, we will work together to establish a tailored treatment plan that meets your specific needs, making any necessary adjustments to maximize its effectiveness. This will empower you to lead a fulfilling and everyday life. Additionally, I want you to walk away from our session knowing you have been truly listened to and that I am deeply invested in your mental health. Addressing personal challenges can be tough, but with me as your provider, I will do my best to be a supportive and understanding teammate by your side.
