Great to meet you!

After practicing law for over 10 years in a variety of areas including divorce and child custody issues, I decided that my passion for resolving conflicts could be better used to help people find solutions for their distress in the mental health field. I offer outpatient psychotherapy for adolescents, adults, couples and families who are facing a range of concerns including anxiety, depression, trauma, anger management, grief and loss, stress management and relationship issues. I incorporate a variety of clinical perspectives in working with clients including cognitive-behavioral, psychodynamic, strength-based and client-centered therapy. I also apply my therapy skills along with an understanding of the legal system in offering co-parenting counseling and reunification counseling. I have expertise working with children and parents from intact or separated families helping them to learn healthy communication patterns and develop appropriate ways to manage conflict.

My approach to therapy

I approach therapy with an open mind and always try to start first with where the client's needs are. I use a variety of modalities in my practice but also incorporate my personality into the sessions using my sense of humor and brief role-playing exercises to explain concepts and highlight considerations that could be useful to the client in improving their well-being.

What you can expect from me

I like to treat the first session with a client as a chance for me to learn more about them but also for them to learn about me. I recognize that starting therapy is not necessarily an easy or comfortable step to take so I always approach the first session with an eye towards understanding my client's needs as much as I can. At the same time, I also try to briefly educate my client on my personality and approach so we can build rapport as readily as possible.
