Great to meet you!

I served for years as a firefighter and a fire captain in the Midwest, where I experienced both the rewards and the challenges of public safety work. Along the way, I faced personal and professional struggles of my own, and learned firsthand the impact of trauma, anxiety, and stress can have on daily life. Overcoming these challenges has shaped who I am today and inspired my work as a therapist. I bring that lived experience, along with clinical training, to help others navigate their own paths toward healing and resilience.

My approach to therapy

I believe therapy works best when it meets people where they are. My style is humanistic and person-centered, which means I focus on building a genuine, supportive connection so you feel understood and safe to do the work at your own pace.

Along with this foundation, I integrate proven approaches like EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) to help process trauma, and CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) to recognize and change unhelpful thought patterns. I also use CPT (Cognitive Processing Therapy) and Prolonged Exposure, which are especially effective for trauma and PTSD. In addition, I draw from systems therapy, which looks at how family, relationships, work, and other life systems impact your well-being. By combining these approaches, I help clients not only process difficult experiences, but also improve the way they connect, communicate, and function in their everyday lives.

What you can expect from me

In our first session, my main goal is to create a safe, welcoming environment where you feel comfortable sharing at your own pace. We’ll spend time getting to know each other, talking about what brought you to therapy, and beginning to outline what you’d like to work on. I’ll ask some questions about your history, current challenges, and strengths, but there’s no pressure to share more than you’re ready for.

Together, we’ll start to set goals that feel meaningful to you—whether that’s reducing stress, processing trauma, improving relationships, or finding better balance in daily life. I’ll also explain how I work, the different therapy approaches I may draw from (like EMDR, CBT, or systems-focused therapy), and how we can tailor sessions to fit your needs. By the end of that first meeting, clients often leave with a clearer sense of direction, reassurance that they’re not alone, and hope that meaningful change is possible.
